Tim Palen's Photographs from The Hunger Games will be available on Assouline.com and at Assouline book stores next Monday. We've gotten plenty of first looks, such as the Effie portrait and the Sister Portrait... this book looks AMAZING!
"In exclusive collaboration with Lionsgate, Assouline presents Tim Palen: Photographs from The Hunger Games. Compiled in one deluxe volume, Palen’s portraits capture each character with striking intimacy and transform the high-octane adventure of the films into exquisite visual art. Through Palen’s unique lens, characters become icons, immortalized as the beloved characters the world has embraced."

We've learned that there will be more than 200 photographs of the series including..

- The 74th Hunger Games
- The Quarter Quell
- The Mockingjay Lives
- The Revolution

Along with that new information, we've also gotten a new look at the book as well, courtesy of different sources.

Before The Hunger Games was a multibillion-dollar enterprise, it was a series of dystopic novels by Suzanne Collins. The books had a strong following, but not one large enough to make the films into blockbusters—that was mostly left up to the marketing team at Lionsgate, the studio behind the franchise, and their resident guru, Tim Palen (newly named the studio’s chief brand officer in charge of marketing). They had to campaign for a movie whose real message, like those of so many political candidates, was in danger of being obfuscated by less-than-ideal optics—in this case, the idea of children killing children. “We took our cues from Suzanne Collins, whose books are really about how war ruins everything,” Palen explains. “So we avoided anything that was overtly action-y or that made violence look badass. But the one thing we did have was the face of Jennifer Lawrence.”
At the time, J-Law was not yet (arguably) the world’s most valuable movie star—but well on her way. The rest of the promising young cast would be lifted up by the tide of box office returns, as well. As it happens, that sense of youthful potential for transformation was a preoccupation of the books as well. “Our first set of posters for the franchise were character shots of everybody in silhouette,” Palen, who is an accomplished photographer, says of shooting the promotional art. A new book out June 29 from Assouline, Tim Palen: Photographs From the Hunger Games, collects Palen’s contemplative portraits of the entire cast in character over the first three films, many of them unseen. “The very first person I shot was Liam Hemsworth. He arrived in the studio; he was just looking out the window. And that became his poster! He just looked so fresh and innocent and handsome. Most of these actors were not known yet, and we wanted to launch them. You can’t go wrong with everybody looking staggeringly hopeful.”

“Elizabeth Banks during the making of the second movie, Catching Fire. From Suzanne Collins’ point of view, this was the book of color—so we had Effie Trinket in this pink carnation dress, which I think was Alexander McQueen. That’s our brilliant costume designer, Trish Summerville, with her back to the camera.”
“We shot this in Hawaii, after Catching Firewrapped. We had Jen for the whole day; it was the most time we ever got with her. She glows for real. Like, she’s dewy all the time. You could shoot her with a camera from Walgreens, and she would look stunning.”

Youth in Revolt - Hunger Games

"Photographing Natalie Dormer is like shooting a wild, feral animal. She just looks badass. Sometimes, you’re shooting 18 people in one day, some of whom are actors who don’t like being photographed. But she knows how to move and to have her picture taken.”

What a tribute! With just months until the release of the final Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Lionsgate exec Tim Palen is sending the series off in a big way.
The photographer and Chief Brand Officer and President of Worldwide Marketing at Lionsgate is debuting a new book, Tim Palen: Photographs From the Hunger Games, which offers a coveted behind-the-scenes look into the making of the big-screen adaptations.
Us Weekly got an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming title, complete with never-before-seen photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth, among others. Hitting stores on Monday, June 29, Photographs From The Hunger Games features stunning portraits of the stars as they transform into their characters.
In one such shot, Lawrence, 24, stands still as a team surrounds her to complete the final touches on Katniss Everdeen's wedding gown. With her brunette locks pulled back, the Oscar winner looks gorgeous in the photo, sporting the ornate Tex Saverio-designed gown that President Snow requires her to wear.
Hemsworth is the focus in another commanding image, staring straight into the camera as he stands in front of an army of Peacekeepers as Gale Hawthorne. Gale famously clashed with Panem's military forces and stands tall against his offenders. "The finished product blows me away," Lawrence says of the book in its foreword. The three Hunger Games films have spawned some gorgeous photography—from gritty posters of the rebel army to eerie shots of the Capitol. But in a new book of Hunger Games portraits, the films’ now-iconic characters get luxe treatment. Behind the lens on these amazing photos? Lionsgate’s chief marketing officer, Tim Palen, who leads a double life as an incredible photographer. Take a look at EW’s exclusive portrait of the ever-glamorous (even when underground) Effie Trinket, played by Elizabeth Banks, and pick up your copy of TIM PALEN: Photographs from the Hunger Games on June 29.

For all the attention given to “Team Peeta” and “Team Gale,” there may be no stronger relationship in the Hunger Games movies than the one between Katniss and Prim. Katniss, the older sister played by Jennifer Lawrence, is fiercely protective of her younger sister (played by Willow Shields), and it’s her volunteering to take her sister’s place in the Hunger Games that kicks off the entire story. But that sisterly bond doesn’t seem to get the same kind of attention as the dueling romances. Until now. Above you can see The Sister Portrait, featuring Katniss and Prim, which will debut at Cannes this week in honor of the Hunger Games franchise. Photographed by Tim Palen, the chief marketing officer at Lionsgate, as well as an award-winning fine-art photographer, “The Sister Portrait” is included in the new book Tim Palen: Photographs From The Hunger Games, which will be published June 29. Now available for pre-order at assouline.com, the book features Palen’s portraits of the entire Hunger Games cast, from Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) in her most elaborate costumes to iconic images of Katniss that became the film’s poster art. It also features an introduction written by Vanity Fair’s own executive West Coast editor, Krista Smith. In addition, there are numerous images—like the striking portrait of Katniss and Prim—that have never been seen before. Following the June 29 release at assouline.com, the book will be available everywhere July 29.

Don't forget... The deluxe volume of pictures will feature never before seen photos from the movie and a small peak at Mockingjay - Part 2

You can order the book from Assouline, and get it on Monday.
You can order the book for $55 on Amazon and get the book on July 29.
